I had a great Sunday afternoon with my friends going out from Newport Beach and whale watching. We saw dolphins and the back of one gray whale. It was quite exciting to see the dark gray back with white markings/scrapes come up out of the ocean for a brief second. The boat stayed and we were waiting for another sighting, but saw a few water spouts and whale footprints. I guess he was a shy one! They are not as friendly as the dolphins; there were quite a few dolphins out there jumping. The pelicans sure were out in force, too. Photos will follow.
